In both cases originally the name of the beck Dalbeke from dāl (“dale, valley”) + bēke (“beck, brook”), in the later Bielefeld case also contracted Dalke, which is still employed as a potamonym before discharge to the west of it, already 1003 in Medieval Latin Delhna (variant reading Dellina) and 1031 Delchana, now mapped as Dalbkebach running through Schloß Holte and Lipperreihe of Oerlinghausen, then transferred to a manor (Meierei, Gut), the surrounding population of which distinguished itself within the municipality Senne II particularly after a paper-mill sustained it from 1835.
