Where this word comes from
Folklore says the Spaniards, led by Father Luis Gonzaga y Espinosa, in their desire to spread Christianity, headed towards the eastern parts of Agoo, which were heavily forested before. While they were resting under the trees, they distributed manuscripts of cartilla and catecismo to the natives. Sudenly, they hear a loud "Tuao, tuao" sound emanating from the top of the trees. These sounds, made by kalaw birds, bewildered the Spaniards. When they returned, Father Espinosa reported an area called "Tuao". However, due to inadvertent recordings made by the Spanish authorities, the word "Tuao" was written as "Tubao".
