Unknown. Found as a farm name in Satakunta as well as Central and North Ostrobothnia. Early attestations include Widzuri (1552), vitszar (1568), Wissar (1682), Wisur (1695). Possibly from a Germanic (Middle Low German) given name Witz, Wize (ultimately perhaps from Proto-Germanic *witaną (“to know”), *witą (“knowledge”)) with diminutive -ri.
