From Proto-Finnic *arvo (compare Estonian arv), borrowed from Iranian. Probably also cognate with Erzya арсемс (arsems, “to think”) and Moksha -ара (-ara) in мъзяра (məzära, “how much”), as well as Hungarian ár, which was separately borrowed from the same Iranian source.
