Where this word comes from
Derived roughly as juosta + -e, although the derivation is slightly irregular (with an additional -t-, apparently from the consonant stem juost-). In some dialects, the partitive singular juostetta is used in expressions for running a horse, and they may have influenced the word, which is undoubtedly a relatively recent neologism (from the 1950s or so).
