Meaning & usage
Malaysia with regards to presence of South Asians there including Bengalis and Tamils
Where this word comes from
Blend of Malaysia + Bangladesh. It was attested in Malaysia since 2010s for xenophobic attack to Bangladeshi migrant labour in Malaysia. Along with Banglasia, such use remained largely unknown in Indonesia, it popularized by various anti-Malaysia groups in late 2023 as a retaliation insult towards Malaysia for its presence of Bangladeshi migrant labour because of Malaysian insult based on allegation of many marriages between Indonesian and Bangladeshi migrant workers. The sense later extended as an retaliation insult towards Malaysia's presence of its own Indian diaspora (especially Tamils for similar darker complexion) and their cultures and/or their Hindu faith more visible than that in Indonesia as Malaysian Indophobic insult for Indonesian similarity to India.
