Inherited from Malay akta, from Portuguese acta, (pre-reform spelling (used until 1943 in Brazil and 1990 in Portugal) of ata; still used where the agreement hasn’t come into effect and may occur as a sporadic misspelling), from Latin ācta, plural of āctum, from agō, from Proto-Indo-European *h₂eǵ-. The further usage is semantic loan from Dutch akte, which makes the difference in usage between Standard Malay and Indonesian. Doublet of aksis, akte, and aktor.
