Where this word comes from

Unclear. The name is also attested in Ancient Greek as Κισσωνία (Kissōnía). It has been suggested that the god's name could mean "carriage-driver" (compare cissum (“carriage”), said to be derived from Gaulish). A possible connection (perhaps through Aquitanian) to Proto-Basque *gizoN (“man, human”) has been suggested for the given name, though it being in use so far afield from Aquitania may make this unlikely.
