Where this word comes from

Internationalism, borrowed from Latin Dĭōnē (“Dione”), from Ancient Greek Διώνη (Diṓnē, “Dione”). The Ancient Greek name is derived by syncope from earlier Ancient Greek Διϝωνη (Diwōnē), ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *DiwHóneh₂ (“one under the authority of Zeus or heaven”), from *dyew- (“sky, heaven; god”) + *-Hō. The name is thus essentially a feminine counterpart to Zeus. The moon of Saturn was discovered by Giovanni Cassini in 1684 and later named after the mythological Dione as part of John Herschel's naming scheme for Saturn's moons. Compare the parallel adaptations Danish Dione, Swedish Dione, German Dione, Finnish Dione, French Dioné and English Dione.
