Where this word comes from

Internationalism, ultimately from Ancient Greek Ἔρις (Éris, “Eris, the Greek goddess of strife”), from Ancient Greek ἔρις (éris, “strife, discord”). The deeper origin of the Greek noun is uncertain. The astronomical sense is named after the goddess. The object was discovered on 5 January 2005 in data obtained on 21 October 2003 by Michael E. Brown, Chad Trujillo and David Rabinowitz. The discovery team proposed the name Eris, which the International Astronomical Union officially assigned on 13 September 2006. Parallel international forms include Danish Eris, Swedish Eris, German Eris, Dutch Eris and English Eris.
