Where this word comes from

Borrowed from German Ungarn (“Hungary”). The German name ultimately reflects Proto-Slavic *ǫgъrinъ (“Hungarian person”), of uncertain origin. The Proto-Slavic ethnonym may have been borrowed from the Oghuric name of the Onoğurs, probably meaning “ten tribes”, from 𐰆𐰣 (on, “ten”) and 𐰆𐰍𐰔 (oɣuz, “tribe”). Alternatively, it may have been borrowed from an early stage of Proto-Permic. The initial h- in forms such as English Hungary and French Hongrie arose through secondary association with the Huns. Compare the related forms Danish Ungarn, Swedish Ungern, Faroese Ungarn, Finnish Unkari, Estonian Ungari and English Hungary.
