Where this word comes from

From Old Galician-Portuguese feliz, a semi-learned borrowing from Latin fēlīcem, from Proto-Indo-European *dʰeh₁-lw-i, from *dʰeh₁(y)- (“to suckle”). The Old Galician-Portuguese form fiiz, however, was popularly inherited, but later replaced by feliz, in a process of restoration.
