Where this word comes from

Inherited from Ottoman Turkish آیرتمق (ayartmak), آیارتمق (ayartmak), from Old Anatolian Turkish ایردمق (ayardmaq), from Proto-Turkic *adārt-, a derivation from Proto-Turkic *adā (“danger”) (which is not attested on its own except in Old Turkic, as 𐽰𐽰𐽸𐽰 (ʾʾdʾ /ada/)). Cognate with Old Turkic 𐽰𐽰𐽸𐽰𐽾𐾀𐽹𐽰𐽲 (ʾʾdʾrtmʾq). According to Balyemez, the dialectal form ayarmak is a result of back-formation rather than inheritance.
