From Ottoman Turkish اوژه (oje), presumably in the beginning read oja, standing for Finnish or Estonian Oja, a family name occurring in the German-based perfumery company Oja, widely active in Europe from the late 1900s to the 1930s, whose portfolio included nail-polish, see for example in the weekly periodical Die Woche № 51/1920 an ad. Also found as Romanian ojă.
