Compare Ottoman Turkish طوق (tok, “the parotid gland”). Cognate with Old Turkic [script needed] (toklï, “foal, calf”), Karakhanid تُقْلی (toqlu, toqlı), Chagatai توغلی (toğlı, “three-month-old lamb”), Turkmen tokly. Perhaps related to Mongolian тугал (tugal).
