Where this word comes from

Probably from Gaulish *Biliākon, from *biliā (“tall tree”). This name is not attested as an ancient name of Villach, but it is attested as a place name in several places in France and Luxembourg. Alternatively from a Latin-Celtic hybridism Vīllācum from Latin vīlla (“estate”) + Proto-Celtic *-ākom. This name is attested in Medieval Latin, but only as a Latinization of the German name.
